A vacuum cleaner is used to make an empty space. The vacuum cleaner is connected to a motion sensor that will turn it on when a person is near. My intention with the sensor is not interactivity, but the wish to establish periods where the vacuum process is either turned on or off. The vacuum cleaner is connected to a space construction consisting of six frames with transparent PVC tablecloth on. The PVC tablecloth is like skin that will tighten op when the vacuum cleaner turns on.

"Naturam à vacuo abhorrere” is a quotation by Aristotle that means: There can be no vacuum in nature. It refers to the theory initially proposed by Aristotle stating that empty space cannot exist. As a matter of fact, the perfect vacuum is an ideal concept that can never be observed in practice.
